Work on the project has slowed as we await the delivery of key elements to be placed. The granite ground markers and 165 engraved bricks have been delivered.  The limestone is expected to be delivered during the week of October 28. Once the limestone is available, the work should accelerate. 

The dedication, originally set for November 11, has been moved to December 7, another historic date in our history. The change was necessitated in part because of conflicts with numerous activities taking place on Veterans Day among many of the local schools.

The last remaining items awaiting approval and delivery are the granite plaques that go on each end pedestal.

Fundraising efforts continue, and another attempt for a T-Mobile grant is underway.  Three local banks have contributed $1,000 each. The Baker Intermediate School Flag Team Company raised $2,500 and purchased one of the benches that will be placed on the site. The Clark County Board of Education approved a donation of $10,000, understanding the educational value of the memorial.  A grant of $2,500 was received from the Clark Community Foundation.

All donations exceeding $1,000 will earn a place on the bronze donor plaques that will be placed on the memorial at the end of construction.

We continue to look to local industry and businesses to step forward with donations since funds are still needed to see the project to completion.
