Much progress has been made since our last update.
The concrete for the end pedestals and flagpole base has been poured. Formwork for the curved wall is nearly complete, and the concrete pour for that portion of the work is expected to occur on Monday, June 24th, weather permitting.
On Thursday, June 13th, the Veterans Council approved a contract extension with Brashear Company and the purchase of the flagpole that will remain in place during the remainder of construction. It and the American and POW/MIA flags will be lit at night.
The purchase of the limestone to face the wall and the pedestals was also approved at that meeting. The fabrication of the limestone work will take several weeks, and it is possible that it will be installed near the end of August.
The granite ground plaques and the plaques that will be placed atop each end pedestal remain to be procured. Memorial bricks have yet to be ordered so that we can accumulate as many bricks as possible for the order. Approximately 150 bricks have been sold thus far.
Fundraising continues, and brick sales are brisk, but brick sales alone will not provide the remaining funds necessary to complete the work.
