The reinforcing for the wall, the flagpole base and the end pedestals have been placed, and formwork for the end pedestals and flagpole base are in place. During the week of June 2, it is expected that the formwork for the walls will be set with concrete to be poured as soon afterward as weather permits.
Estimates for the limestone have been received from three fabricators and the Veterans Council, meeting on June 13th will be asked to select one of the bids so that limestone can be ordered. A lead time for delivery of the limestone could be as much at ten to twelve weeks.
The granite supplier is working on confirmation drawings for that portion of the work and those may be available during the week of June 2 as well.
Six benches have been ordered and, when delivered, will be placed in a local warehouse until they are needed at the site. Four of the benches have been purchased by benefactors.
Memorial brick sales continue. Additional grant opportunities and donations from businesses continue to be sought as an additional $100,000 will be necessary to complete the project. (How to help.)
