The weather has been uncooperative lately, bringing rain and showers every time the plaza concrete pour is scheduled. It now appears that the beginning of the week of August 5th might open a window for this part of the project to occur.
We have ordered the flagpole and are awaiting its arrival, after which it will be immediately erected on-site to fly the American and POW flags through the remainder of construction.
An initial document review of the limestone work has been accomplished. After one final review, the fabrication of the limestone will begin.
Fabrication of the granite plaques will begin once final proofs are approved.
The landscape contractor has been brought on board, and a deposit has been made to hold the trees, which will be placed in the fall as one of the last items to be completed.
One hundred and forty-two memorial bricks have been ordered, and proofing is underway. They have been requested to be delivered in late September and will be held by the contractor for installation late in the process.
We have been notified by the Bluegrass Community Foundation that the $7,500.00 matching grant will be forthcoming quickly. We managed to raise over $8,000.00 from June 28th in order to match that grant.
Brick sales are still taking place. If we can submit additional orders before the delivery date, we will do so. At some point we will need to hold brick orders until a group is accumulated. Even after the project is 100% complete, we can still accept brick orders since the design allows for plain brick to be easily removed and replaced with permanent memorial bricks.
We have received some corporate donations and continue to solicit those.
