More progress

Work progresses, more funds raised

Car show to be held Oct. 4

After a rather lengthy hiatus, and following additional landscaping at the memorial, work began in earnest again on Thursday, September 18th with RM Global doing preparatory work to excavate the ditches needed to provide the base for the placement of the ground markers.  Funds were beginning to come in from additional sources, with a $5,000 grant from the Mayer Family Foundation, $5,000 from Tierney Storage and the continuing sale of engraved bricks, which now total 328.

The Elks Club of Winchester held a breakfast on Saturday, September 20th which netted $2,600 for the memorial.

A car show will be held to benefit the memorial on Saturday, October 4th on Broadway which will give participants a chance to see firsthand the progress being made on the memorial.

While the Veterans Council will continue raising funds to assure completion, the end now seems in sight and plans are underway for a dedication of the project on Veterans Day, November 11th.
